Lexington- After numerous chances throughout most of the game the Lexington Minutemen finally connected for two goals in the second half as they edged Gross Catholic 2-0 in the B7 District Final on Saturday. The match was tied at half, but Lexington’s Alex Barraza scored on a header off of a great assist from Adam Lima to put the Minutemen on the scoreboard in the 61st minute. Barraza and coach Joel Lemus talk about the win and the season.
Then as the game was ending Jose Navarrete scored his 13th goal of the season in the 79th minute to help complete the victory. Lexington was the more aggressive team all day and posted their 10th shutout of the season. Lexington is now 13-5 on the spring and will appear in the state tournament for a 7th straight season when they play Bennington on Thursday night in Omaha.
