At least three high schools have been impacted after threats made at the schools that authorities believed were a form of “swatting”.
North Platte High School was placed into a SECURE status just before 12:00 p.m. Monday following a phone call reporting potential danger at the school.
The North Platte Police Department says law enforcement responded immediately and worked alongside school officials while all safety protocols were followed.
Police say at around 1:20 p.m., after a thorough search of the premises, law enforcement determined there was no threat or danger to students or staff, and the SECURE was lifted.
Police believe the threat to be a swatting phone call.
At least two other schools in the state faced similar threats on Monday.
The Alliance High School was placed on lockdown following a bomb threat earlier in the day.
All other Alliance Public Schools were placed on a temporary hold status.
Police in Alliance say investigations indicate the threat was likely not credible.
But, in the interest of student and staff safety, school administration decided to evacuate the high school.
The Alliance Police Department is actively investigating the threat and working closely with school officials to ensure the safety of students, staff, and the community.
Monday evening, the Kearney Police Department announced in a Facebook post that they had received information regarding a threat involving Kearney Catholic High School . The investigation revealed that it was an unsubstantiated claim.
Kearney Police responded to the threat around noon Monday. KPD worked throughout the afternoon to ensure the safety of students and staff.
