West Pharmaceutical Services says it has restored core enterprise systems and restarted critical operations at some sites following a cyberattack detected on May 4, though full recovery is still underway. The company said it promptly shut down and isolated affected on‑premise systems after identifying the intrusion, restricted access to enterprise networks, activated incident response and crisis management protocols, and notified law enforcement. The West Pharmaceutical Service operation in west Kearney was also affected. The company says it produces “high-quality containment and delivery systems for injectable medicines” there.
The cyberattack temporarily disrupted West’s global operations, including manufacturing and shipping, but the company says core systems are now operational worldwide and remaining sites are being restored in a phased manner. West is using its business continuity plans and working closely with customers to minimize delays and reduce risk. The investigation into the nature and scope of the incident, including whether any data was affected, remains ongoing, and the company said it will continue providing updates as more information becomes available.
