The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office has received a $1,250 Highway Safety Grant to participate in the national “Make It Click” seatbelt enforcement campaign running from May 15 through May 31.
During the campaign period, deputies will conduct overtime patrols focused on traffic safety enforcement, with an emphasis on seatbelt use and safe driving practices.
Law enforcement agencies across Nebraska and the nation will take part in the annual mobilization through high saturation patrols aimed at increasing compliance with seatbelt and child restraint laws.
With summer travel season approaching and schools preparing to dismiss for the year, the Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists to buckle up on every trip, whether traveling across town or across the state.
Officials say the campaign is designed to reduce serious injuries and fatalities by encouraging drivers and passengers to consistently wear seatbelts and properly secure children in approved restraint systems.
The Sherman County Sheriff’s Office also encouraged all motorists to remain alert, obey traffic laws, and always “Make It Click.”
