LEXINGTON, NE – Dawson and Gosper County CASA will present over 40 backpacks and 3 diaper bags filled with essential items to the local Department of Health and Human Services office today, Thursday, March 14th at 4pm at the Dawson County Historical Museum.
CASA Director Linda Shaw explains who these backpacks are intended for.
Shaw talks about the impact these backpacks will have on children put into foster homes.
This project was made possible through a grant from the Lexington Community Foundation, and items donated by The Maschhoffs, Homes, Calvary Assembly, and Two Rivers Public Health Department.
Shaw says they had a goal of 20 backpacks for the project, but The Maschhoffs decided to match that 20 to make it 40 backpacks along with items to put in them. Calvary Assembly then donated five more backpacks; Two Rivers Public Health Department also donated three diaper bags. Between all of these groups, plus CASA and Homes, the bags were filled with essential items, toys, and games.
Shaw says Dawson County Historical Museum provided a room for CASA to put these backpacks together.
The public is invited to the official presentation of the backpacks this afternoon at 4pm at the Dawson County Historical Museum.
