ARCADIA, NE- A new small business is opening its doors in Arcadia as Master Kote Powder Coating prepares to celebrate a ribbon cutting with the community.
Owner Craig Sheridan said the business officially launched after years of researching opportunities and deciding there was a strong need for powder coating services in central Nebraska. Sheridan, who previously worked managing wind and solar farms, retired earlier this year before making the move into business ownership.
Sheridan said his background brought him to Nebraska while managing the Broken Bow 2 Wind Farm from 2014 to 2019. After spending time in California working in renewable energy, he and his family returned to the area and settled in Arcadia about three years ago.
He explained that powder coating is a finishing process where dry powder is electrostatically applied to metal surfaces before being cured in an oven. The process creates a durable finish commonly used on a variety of metal products.
Master Kote Powder Coating plans to serve a wide range of customers, including agricultural producers, automotive enthusiasts, trailer owners, contractors, fabricators, manufacturers, and homeowners with items such as gates, railings, furniture, and restoration projects.

Sheridan also emphasized the importance of small businesses in rural Nebraska communities.
“If it were not for small businesses, I don’t think the towns would survive,” Sheridan said. “Those are the life source for the towns.”
