Omaha-Gretna used an incredible second half and pulled away from Lexington to win the Class B state championship 8-2 on Wednesday night. The Dragons scored five goals in the final 15 minutes to earn their first state title in four years. Lexington’s Alex Barraza tied the game at one in the first half before Gretna scored goals from Nathan Thiellen and they punched one in off a free kick from Alex Sowinski to lead it 3-1 at the break. Lexington cut it to 3-2 five minutes into the second half when Jose Navarrete scored his third goal of the state tournament.
It would remain a one goal match until 15 minutes left when Sawyer Hehn scored for Gretna to open up the flood gates. Eljiah Fulton would lead the way with two goals late as he finished with three on the night. Lexington ends the season at 15-6 and earned their fourth state runner up trophy since 2021. Gretna wrapped up the year with 13 straight wins and finished 17-1.
