BROKEN BOW — The Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce recently presented a Grow Award to Trotter’s Whoa & Go, recognizing the business for its recent remodel and continued investment in the community.
Stephanie Grafel, executive director of the Broken Bow Chamber of Commerce, said the award recognizes businesses that reinvest in themselves and, in turn, reinvest in Broken Bow.
Trotter’s Whoa & Go recently completed a major renovation of its downtown convenience store at 608 South E Street in Broken Bow. Terina Trotter said the project marked the first major update to the store since Trotter’s purchased it 25 years ago from Dean and Jack Gracie.
“We completely gutted our store,” Trotter said. “We started basically from the floor up. Everything got changed.”
The store was closed for about six weeks during the renovation. Trotter said the goal was to make the location lighter, brighter and more convenient for customers.
The remodel keeps the convenience store as a key stop for customers, with 24-hour access to gasoline and the ability to pay at the pump.
As part of the project, the store added a main island where customers can get drinks, snacks and hot food items, along with a larger kitchen space for employees to prepare food.
The recognition also comes during Trotter’s 25th anniversary year of owning the store. Sinclair is also celebrating its 110th anniversary this year.
Trotter’s has also recently purchased Dad’s Calamus East in Burwell and plans to relaunch the business in the near future.
Trotter thanked the Chamber for the recognition and said the business appreciates the community’s support.
“We try to give back to the community as best we can,” Trotter said.
The store celebrated the award with free hot dogs, chips and drinks, along with Sinclair items and lottery promotions.
