The NSAA Boys State Golf Championships get underway today across all four classes, with area golfers set to compete for state honors at courses around Nebraska.
Class D competition will be held at Quail Run Golf Course in Columbus, where Mullen will have two golfers in the state field. Ben Werner and Jacob Walker both qualified individually after fourth- and fifth-place finishes at the D-5 District Tournament. Walker is scheduled to tee off on Hole No. 1 at 10:40 a.m., while Werner follows in the next group at 10:50 a.m.
SEM’s Bode Martin also earned a spot at the Class D State Tournament after finishing among the top 10 golfers at the D-4 District Meet. Martin will be one of the first competitors on the course, teeing off on Hole No. 1 at 9:10 a.m.
Burwell’s Kason Larson will represent the Longhorns after securing a top-10 district finish in D-3 play. Larson is scheduled to begin his state round at 10 a.m. on Hole No. 1.
The NSAA Boys State Golf Championships consist of 36 holes over two days, with the opening round scheduled for today and the final round set for Thursday.
Elsewhere around the state, Class A competitors will play at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney, Class B will take place at Scotts Bluff Country Club in Scottsbluff, and Class C golfers will compete at Indianhead Golf Course in Grand Island.
