Lexington Regional Health Center is establishing a medical clinic in Elm Creek with plans to open it later this summer. CEO Jason Douglas reported at the Board of Director’s meeting Tuesday evening. He said a building is being leased along with various preparations. It will have 4 exam rooms and initially be open two days per week. A previous medical clinic in Elm Creek was closed several years ago.
Human Resources Officer Jill Denker reported that a new surgeon and a physician will be joining the hospital later this summer. She also welcomed on board new hires in Physical Therapy, IT, Respiratory Therapy, CNA and admissions clerk.
Denker also reported that LRHC is being recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s Best Places to Work in Healthcare for 2026. Denker said the award is based largely on employee feedback. She said the recognition reflects the collective commitment among employees in supporting one another, strengthening workplace culture and delivering exceptional care for our patients and community.
Chief Financial Officer Wade Eschenbrenner reviewed a proposed budget for fiscal year 2027 that begins July 1st.
Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer Megan Uphoff provided the Nursing Service report. She said they have a partnership with Mid Plains Community College to give nursing students some clinical experience, Uphoff said one new nurse was hired from the latest group.
Uphoff said the obstetrics remodel project is largely completed with all four birthing rooms in service.
Chief Experience Officer Mike Dowling said RN’s Ally Rush and Taylor Seberger recently completed certification in pre-operative nursing. Dowling said the certification reflects critical knowledge, critical thinking and a committment to evidence-based practices. Factors, he said, directly contributes to patient safety and improved surgical outcomes.
The next meeting of the Lexington Regional Health Center Board of Directors will be at noon on June 30th in the LRHC Board Room.
