Husk Community Theatre is bringing one of the most recognizable musicals of all time to the stage at The Golden Husk in Ord.
The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, the von Trapp family and the power of music, courage and family during a time of uncertainty.
The production is a community effort, with local volunteers helping bring the beloved musical to life both on stage and behind the scenes. Ruth McCain is handling makeup and costuming for the show, while Joel Glaser is providing sound.
Director Jesse Rosberg said the production has been special to watch come together.
“It’s just really fun to watch the community come together and put on something magic,” Rosberg said.
The Golden Husk provides a fitting venue for the show, giving audiences a chance to experience the well-known story and music in a historic setting.
Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, with a 2 p.m. matinee Sunday.
Organizers said advance tickets are strongly recommended, as past productions have either sold out or come close. The Sunday matinee, in particular, is expected to go quickly.
