North Platte — Nebraska State Patrol investigators ran alcohol compliance checks in Hitchcock, Dundy, and Chase Counties during the afternoon and evening of Tuesday, June 2.
Ten businesses were checked. One sold alcohol to a minor, resulting in a 90% compliance rate. Eight other shops were closed during the operation. Every business that made a sale checked the minor’s ID first.
The group of businesses included bars, liquor stores, restaurants, grocery stores, and convenience stores.
The state sends the nume of businesses that sell to minors to the Nebraska Liquor Control Commission. Clerks who make these sales get cited for procuring alcohol for a minor.
The project is 100% funded by a nearly $428,000 grant from the Region II Human Services Substance Abuse Prevention, Treatment and Recovery Services Block Grant.
It originates from SAMHSA and the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services, Division of Behavioral Health.
