The popular Nebraska Public Media show “Backyard Farmer” will record an episode in Kearney next week.
The public is invited to attend the taping of the show, which will take place on Tuesday, June 16 at Yanney Park in Kearney near the Gail & Michael Yanney Pavilion Building. Family friendly activities start at 3:15PM, with a Q&A session at 4:15 and the taping of the show beginning at 5PM.
Backyard Farmer host Kim Todd of Nebraska extension is joined by panelists Kait Chapman, urban entomologist; Terri James, extension educator; Amy Timmerman, extension educator and Elizabeth Exstrom, extension educator.
Members of the audience should bring lawn chair or picnic blankets, alongside questions from their lawns and gardens for the Q&A session.

Features for the episode, which will air at 7PM (Central)/6PM (Mountain) June 18, will be on a spring planting project where community volunteers plant annuals in ornamental beds entitled “Big Dig”, late philanthropist Mike Yanney, and soil-testing laboratory Ward Labratories.
The longest running, locally produced television series in the nation, “Backyard Farmer” airs on Nebraska Public Media Thursdays at 7 p.m. through September. It repeats at 10 a.m. CT Saturdays on Nebraska Public Media and at 4 p.m. CT Sundays and 5 p.m. CT Mondays on Create.
