GRAND ISLAND — A Grand Island woman accused of taking payments for cemetery headstones that were never installed has been found competent to stand trial.
Hall County District Judge Andrew Butler ruled June 12 that 48-year-old Kelli Lepler can proceed in her criminal case.
Lepler, the former owner of Monument Advisors, is accused of receiving $258,404 from 43 customers for headstones that prosecutors say were never installed through her business.
She faces 46 counts of theft by deception in Hall County District Court. Of those charges, 38 are felonies, and eight are misdemeanors. Court records say the purchases were made between Jan. 8, 2020, and Feb. 9, 2023.
Lepler’s case dates back to September 2023, when the first district court proceedings were held. In January 2025, Butler ruled that Lepler was not competent to stand trial and ordered her to be held at the Lincoln Regional Center. Since then, the court has continued to review her competency status.
Her bond has been reduced to $75,000, and she is being held at the Hall County Corrections Department.
Lepler is scheduled for a pretrial conference at 8:30 a.m. June 30. Her jury trial is set to begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 9.
