BROKEN BOW — The Broken Bow City Council is scheduled to meet tonight at 6 p.m. at the Municipal Building on South 10th Avenue.
The meeting will open with routine consent agenda items before moving into new business, public comment, and reports from the mayor and council members.
Among the items on tonight’s agenda, council members are expected to consider appointments to both the Broken Bow Airport Authority and the Broken Bow Library Board.
The council will also hold a public hearing tied to a proposed increase in electric use fees. Following that hearing, council members may consider action on the proposed fee adjustments.
Another item expected to draw continued discussion is the city’s proposed ordinance dealing with electric scooters, electric bicycles, and hoverboards. The issue was discussed at the June 9 council meeting, but previous ordinance readings were not waived. Unless the remaining readings are waived, two more readings would still be required before final action could be taken.
The draft ordinance previously reviewed by the council would place several restrictions on e-bike use in Broken Bow. Those include banning e-bikes from sidewalks in the downtown business district, prohibiting riders under 18 from operating e-bikes on streets within that district, requiring approved helmets for minors, and limiting e-bike use in city parks, including walking trails and grassy areas.
The proposal also includes possible penalties and impoundment provisions for violations.
Tonight’s Broken Bow City Council meeting begins at 6 p.m. and is open to the public.
