Bond was set at $1 Million for a California man in Dawson County Court this morning(Wed) following a traffic stop on Interstate 80 in Dawson County. According to an affidavit, Nebraska State Patrol stopped a vehicle about three miles east of the Lexington interchange around 10:54am Tuesday. The trooper said he observed a silver Honda Pilot following too closely and failing to maintain its lane. The trooper identified the driver as 32-year-old Saul Enrique Macias Serrano, who provided a Nebraska driver’s license but, gave a San Jacinto, CA address at booking.
While completing the traffic stop, a second trooper deployed a police service dog, which alerted to the vehicle. Macias Serrano consented to a search, during which troopers discovered signs the fuel system under the rear passenger seat had been tampered with. Inside the gas tank area, investigators located 26 tightly sealed packages. The bundles, weighing a combined 26.8 pounds, later tested positive for methamphetamine. Authorities say Macias Serrano was taken into custody and transported to the Dawson County Jail.
During the arraignment, County Judge Jeffrey Wightman set Macias Serrano’s bond at $1 Million but, could be released if $100,000 is posted. He is charged with Possession of 140 grams or more of Methamphetamine With Intent to Distribute, punishable by a minimum of 20 years to life in prison. He was appointed an attorney and his next hearing set for July 9, 2026 at 11:00am in the Dawson County Courtroom.
