GRAND ISLAND, Neb. — Grand Island is receiving national attention after being selected as one of 20 finalists for the 2026 All-America City Award.
The recognition is presented by the National Civic League and honors communities that bring residents, businesses, nonprofits, and local government together to address challenges and improve the quality of life.
This year’s award focused on civic health, community trust, and local engagement.
Grand Island advanced to the finalist stage and sent a delegation to Denver to share the city’s story during the National Civic League’s annual conference. While the city was not selected as one of the 10 national winners, local leaders say being named a finalist reflects years of work, partnership, and community-wide collaboration.
The conference also allowed Grand Island to highlight local initiatives and connect with civic leaders from across the country.
The All-America City Award has been presented since 1949 and is considered one of the nation’s top honors for civic achievement.
Grand Island has previously earned the All-America City title four times, the most of any community in Nebraska.
