North Platte, Nebraska – June 30, 2026 – The North Platte Police Department responded to 762 calls for service during the 2026 Nebraskaland Days Celebration, held June 17–27, 2026. During that period, officers made 14 Minor in Possession arrests, 7 DUI arrests, 12 felony arrests, and 42 misdemeanor arrests. At the Wild West Arena, officers handled 39 calls for service and made 10 Minor in Possession arrests.
As part of event safety efforts, the North Platte Police Department partnered with the Nebraska Department of Transportation, increased officer presence at events where alcohol was served, and used ID scanning devices to help prevent underage drinking and fraudulent identification use. Those efforts resulted in the seizure of several fraudulent IDs used in attempted alcohol purchases.
“The North Platte Police Department appreciates the cooperation of event organizers, businesses, and community members who helped make Nebraskaland Days a safe and successful celebration,” said Sergeant Jeremiah Johnson. “Our officers remain committed to proactive enforcement while supporting the community events that bring people together.”
During the celebration, officers working security at the Wild West Arena, 2801 W. Charlie Evans Drive, responded to a reported disturbance at about 10:00 p.m. on June 27, 2026.
According to the on-scene investigation, officers determined a male suspect was involved in an altercation in the crowd during which a female victim was struck in the face with a beer bottle and a male victim was punched in the face. Officers documented visible injuries to the female victim, including swelling, facial redness, and a bleeding laceration to the lower lip.
Based on witness statements and officer observations, Drake Brunswick (24) of McCook, Nebraska, was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault and third-degree assault and transported to the Lincoln County Detention Center.
