A Grand Island man is facing multiple charges after police say he fled from a burglary scene early Monday morning and later crashed an ATV on the Second Street overpass.
According to Grand Island Police Division Chief Dean Elliott, officers were called to Lex Mart on East Second Street after a burglary was reported at the business. Police said the incident was captured on store video.
Authorities said 24-year-old Lucio Cano Avila fled the area on an ATV as officers responded. He was traveling westbound on Second Street when he crashed on the Second Street overpass.
Cano Avila was transported to CHI Health St. Francis for medical treatment before being taken to the Hall County Corrections Department.
He was arrested on several charges, including felony burglary, felony possession of stolen property, and felony flight to avoid arrest. He also faces misdemeanor charges of willful reckless driving, DUI, no operator’s license, and resisting arrest.
