Motorists traveling eastbound on Interstate 80 near Overton should prepare for road work beginning July 15. According to the Nebraska Department of Transportation, a seven-mile stretch of I-80 from the Overton interchange to two miles west of Elm Creek(or more specifically between reference posts 247.88 and 254.88) will undergo improvements aimed at preserving the highway and enhancing long-term reliability for travelers.
Hastings-based Vontz Paving, Inc. will serve as the contractor for the project, which includes concrete repairs, milling, asphalt overlay work, and new pavement markings. Traffic will be maintained through temporary lane closures, and a 12-foot width restriction will be in place throughout construction. The project is expected to be completed by October.
NDOT is reminding drivers to use caution in work zones, buckle up, and avoid distractions behind the wheel.
