The U.S. Small Business Administration is making low-interest disaster loans available to eligible Nebraska businesses and private nonprofit organizations impacted by high winds and wildfires that began March 12 and continue to affect parts of the state. The disaster declaration covers Garden, Grant, Lincoln and Morrill counties, along with neighboring counties including Dawson, Frontier, Keith, Perkins, Sheridan and Scotts Bluff. Businesses have until March 8, 2027, to apply for assistance.
The SBA’s Economic Injury Disaster Loan program provides working capital to help small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, aquaculture enterprises and most private nonprofit organizations meet financial obligations that cannot be met due to the disaster. Loans of up to $2 million are available, with interest rates capped at 4 percent and repayment terms of up to 30 years. Farmers and ranchers are not eligible for SBA assistance under this program. Applications can be submitted through the SBA loan portal, and additional information is available through the SBA Customer Service Center.
