BROKEN BOW — Authorities are warning residents about fraudulent phone calls that appear to come from Nebraska State Bank & Trust Co.
The Broken Bow Police Department shared an alert Tuesday stating that scammers have spoofed the bank’s main telephone number, 308-872-2466. Caller ID may therefore show the legitimate bank number even though the call is being made by someone unaffiliated with the institution.
Residents who receive a suspicious call are advised to hang up and contact the bank directly to verify the caller’s identity.
Bank officials said customers should never provide personal information, account details, passwords or online banking credentials unless they are certain they are communicating with a trusted bank representative.
The police department also encouraged residents to share the warning with family members and friends who may not use social media. Anyone with questions or concerns can contact Nebraska State Bank & Trust Co. directly at 308-872-2466.
