At around 10:30pm on Friday, a Dawson County Sheriff’s deputy contacted a car for a suspected traffic violation in Lexington.
According to authorities, the deputy stopped the car and exited their patrol unit when two passengers attempted to exit the car.
These two were identified as 46-year-old Jose Andres-Jacindo and 21-year-old Andres Andres-Diego.
The sheriff’s office says Andres-Jacindo failed to comply with demands to return to the vehicle and began to physically struggle with the deputy.
At the same time, Andres-Diego also attacked the deputy.
Meanwhile, authorities say the car’s driver, 38-year-old Melvin Herrera-Gomez, drove away from the scene before Andres-Diego fled on foot to a nearby residence.
Responding officers from the Lexington Police Department, Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, and Nebraska State Patrol assisted in taking both Andres-Diego and Andres-Jacindo into custody.
Herrera-Gomez was also apprehended in the Lexington area.
The deputy was treated for injuries and released.
According to authorities, Andres-Jacindo and Andres-Diego were arrested for suspicion of 2nd-Degree Assault on an Officer, Obstructing a Peace Officer, and Resisting Arrest.
Herrera-Gomez was arrested for suspicion of Obstructing a Peace Officer, Operating a Motor Vehicle to Avoid Arrest, and No Operator’s License.
All three were lodged in Dawson County Jail.
