BURWELL — The Burwell Volunteer Fire Department responded Monday afternoon to a tractor and baler fire, preventing the blaze from spreading despite dry field conditions.
According to the department, firefighters were dispatched at approximately 4:36 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 3. Six Burwell Volunteer Fire Department trucks responded to the scene, along with several privately owned fire rigs.
Crews were able to bring the fire under control quickly, limiting the spread of the flames.

The department thanked its volunteers for their rapid response and teamwork, as well as community members who assisted during the incident.
Fire officials also reminded area producers to exercise extra caution when operating agricultural equipment, noting that dry conditions at this time of year can cause machinery fires to spread rapidly.
The Burwell Volunteer Fire Department also expressed appreciation for the community’s continued support of the department.
