KEARNEY— The Walkway Gallery at CHI Health Good Samaritan is hosting a new exhibit by self-taught Nebraska painter Lon Krugman. Running through November, the display showcases oil paintings of diverse scenes. Some works are inspired by real photographs, while others are purely imaginary, with most including a bird or animal.
Since 2008, the gallery at Good Samaritan has offered regional artists display space and provided a place of respite for those walking the hospital’s halls.

About Lon Krugman (provided by the artist):
Lon Krugman is a weekend painter who resides in Lincoln, Nebraska. He started painting in 2020 during Covid. As an empty nester, he needed something to fill his spare time during a period when most everything was in shutdown mode. So, he bought some supplies and began what has become a most challenging and rewarding hobby.
Krugman’s wife can attest to the fact he falls asleep every night watching YouTube videos posted by artists such as Kevin Hill, Chuck Black, Jerry Yarnell and of course Bob Ross to name a few. Picking up various tips and techniques from these videos have been a guide to improving areas such as composition, color mixing and brush techniques.
Krugman enjoys painting different scenes, some imaginary and some from actual photos. He has an infinity to add a bird or an animal to most of his creations. He looks forward to the not-too-distant future when he can retire and spend more time painting.

The Walkway Gallery is a dedicated corridor connecting the main hospital to the West Tower at Good Samaritan. It provides regional artists with more than 200 feet of lighted and secure professional display space to highlight their works.
