The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission conservation officers are investigating a child’s drowning death that occurred Thursday night at Lake McConaughy.
Around 8:30 p.m. Mountain time, two children from Ogallala were found unresponsive in the water. Bystanders began CPR until emergency medical services arrived.
A 5-year-old girl was taken to Ogallala Community Hospital in stable condition. A 7-year old boy died.
As the recreation season continues, Nebraska Game and Parks reminds all visitors to Nebraska’s lakes and parks to prioritize water safety.
