For more than a century, Scouting has instilled character and life skills in our youth. As kids go back to school, Scouting America encourages girls and boys to consider joining a local pack or troop.
Here in central Nebraska, local Scout leaders say Cub Scouts and Scouts BSA are currently accepting new members.
Tim Bogatz attended a recent campout in Grand Island where this Eagle Scout talked about what the program has meant to him.
“With Scouting you can learn important life skills, things like first aid and a million different cool opportunities to go camping, hiking, backpacking. There’s a spot for anyone with any interest to have a good time,” he said.
Spending time in the great outdoors has long been part of the secret sauce of Scouting and that hasn’t changed.
The program has evolved and is now co-ed. The Cub Scout program is built with families in mind as it serves elementary age kids.
As youth get older, they can expand their opportunities through the Scouting BSA program, which is also open to both boys and girls in middle school and high school.
