Following his conviction Wednesday by a Dawson County District Court Jury on charges of Manslaughter and two weapons counts, 35-year-old Aristh Rodriguez-Linares now faces drug charges in connection with the same crime. On Tuesday, he was served with an arrest warrant for Possession of 10-27 grams of Cocaine, Possession of 10-27 grams of Methamphetamine, Possession of a Firearm while Committing a Felony, Possession of Cocaine and Possession of Methamphetamine.
During the trial, testimony was entered into evidence about packages of Cocaine and Methamphetamine found behind the gas tank lid of the victim’s vehicle. A Lexington Police Department investigator said a larger bag, a mid-sized bag and several small baggies containing 14.52 grams of Methamphetamine and 16.56 grams of Cocaine were found in a shopping bag in the compartment along with a cigarette pack similar to one found in Rodriguez-Linares’ residence associated with him.
A Nebraska State Patrol Crime Lab study determined that Rodriguez-Linares’ DNA was on the large and medium sized bags of the drugs while the victim’s was excluded. Rodriguez-Linares was also convicted of using a 9mm Glock 18 handgun while shooting Farinas-Carballo to death.
An arraignment on the drug charges in Dawson County Court had not been set as of early Thursday afternoon.
Sentencing on the charges related to the shooting death of Farinas-Carballo is scheduled for September 28, 2026 at 10:30am before District Judge Chawnta Durham.
