Lexington, Neb. — A two-vehicle crash west of Lexington early Tuesday resulted in multiple individuals needing to be extricated from vehicles and transported by ambulance to Lexington Regional Health Center.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a motor vehicle collision west of Road 429 on Highway 30 at approximately 6:38 a.m.
Both vehicles were located with heavy collision damage.
A Toyota Corolla sedan had come to rest on the south shoulder of the road with one occupant requiring extrication by Lexington Volunteer Fire & Rescue.
The second vehicle, a Chevrolet Trailblazer, had come to rest in the north ditch with two occupants requiring extrication.
The Chevrolet Trailblazer was driven by 35-year-old Adriana Amenares Garcia of Lexington westbound on Highway 30.
The Toyota Corolla was driven by 43-year-old Ramon O. Alvidrez eastbound on Highway 30.
Preliminary evidence at the scene, witness and driver statements suggest that the Corolla crossed the center-line traveling eastbound in the westbound lane moments before the collision. All occupants were transported to Lexington Regional Health Center by ambulance.
Evidence at the scene indicates that the passenger of the Chevrolet Trailblazer and the driver of the Toyota Corolla were not wearing safety restraints. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor.
The Dawson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by Lexington Volunteer Fire Department, AmeriPro Health, formerly known as Priority Medical, and Randy and Brian’s towing.
