Custer County taxpayers have until Monday, August 31, 2026 to pay the second half of their 2025 real estate and personal property taxes without incurring interest charges.
The Custer County Treasurer’s Office reminds taxpayers that payments can be made in person at the Treasurer’s Office, by mail or through one of two courthouse drop boxes.
Mailed payments must be postmarked by August 31, 2026 to avoid interest charges. Taxpayers are encouraged to plan ahead to avoid late charges.
Taxes can also be paid online through the Custer County Treasurer’s Gworks site https://custer.gworks.com Payments can be made by name, parcel number or address. Taxpayers should verify the payment is being applied to the correct parcel before submitting it.
An online service fee is charged by Nebraska.gov. The Treasurer’s Office says taxpayers have used the e-check option, which carries a $3.00 fee, instead of paying by card, which carries a 2.49% fee.
Taxpayers with multiple parcels are encouraged to add all parcels to their cart before submitting payment to pay only one service fee.
The west-side drop box is located outside the courthouse and is clearly marked. It is available 24 hours a day. A second drop box is located inside the courthouse at the County Treasurer’s Office main door and is available during regular business hours.
Both drop boxes allow taxpayers to avoid waiting in line and are checked throughout the day during business hours.
The Custer County Treasurer’s Office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For more information contact the Custer County Treasurer’s office.
