$170,000 will be directed to local initiatives

The Cattlemen’s Ball of Nebraska has announced a major contribution in the fight against cancer, presenting a check for more than $1.5 Million to the Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center. The donation, totaling $1,511,635.86, will directly support cancer research efforts across Nebraska. The check presentation took place Sunday in Cozad, where Cancer Center Director Dr. Joann Sweasy accepted the donation on behalf of the organization.
In addition to the research funding, nearly $170,000 was distributed locally to support wellness initiatives in area hospitals, rescue squads, and schools. Dr. Sweasy thanked the many donors, volunteers, and community members who helped make the fundraising effort possible, noting the impact cancer has had on families across the state. Organizers also expressed gratitude to everyone who supported this year’s event and encouraged continued involvement as planning begins for the 2027 Cattlemen’s Ball.
