The Jorgensen family is keeping the NSAA Class C State Girls Golf title in the family. A year after older sister KayLynn Jorgensen won the Class C title for the Minden Whippets, younger sister Macy did the same at North Platte’s Lake Maloney Golf Club with a -1 finish at 143.
After being a stroke behind after the first day to West Holt’s Daleni Knust, Jorgensen shot an even 72 on the second day for the win, being the only golfer to shoot under par in the two day tournament, or the only champion to finish under par across Nebraska’s three state championships.
“I knew I’d left some shots out there yesterday, so I was really excited to come back today and make up for some of those shots,” Jorgensen said. “Putting up such a good score and winning is definitely amazing, best feeling ever.”

In the state record books, the two day finish for Macy Jorgensen added her name to the now five person tie for seventh place amongst the best 36 hole individual score, alongside sister KayLynn, now a freshman on the golf team at the University of South Dakota. Her one day low of 71 adds her name to nine others who have shot a 71 at the State Championships.
The tournament featured two vastly different days for weather, with Monday’s play featuring plenty of sunshine and the eighties, while Tuesday’s play had the fifties with cloud cover and some occasional mist in the morning.
Knust finished with the runner up honor, shooting a 76 in Tuesday’s play after shooting a 70 on Monday, with a +4 finish at 146. Bridgeport’s Alyvia Harless was third with a +8 finish at 152 (73, 79).

Other finishers reaching top 15 medalist honors locally included Aurora’s Delainey Phillips taking fourth (+13; 82, 75), Grand island Central Catholic’s Molly Kenna tying with Valentine’s Tierney Miller for sixth (+22), and Aurora freshman Olivia Dunn taking ninth with a +26 finish.
Cozad’s Ella Atchison and Scotus Central Catholic’s Libby Langan both finished with a +27 on the tournament for a tenth place tie, and Holdrege’s Kaylin Sughroue and Lily McClymont tied with West Holt’s Brinley Kerkman for a three-way tie at 14th place (+30).
In the team race, West Holt dominated with a 28 stroke lead after the first day, and extended their win by another seven stokes for their first girls golf title in school history with 674 strokes (+98). Scotus Central Catholic was the runner-up with 709 strokes (+133), and Aurora took third. Grand Island Central Catholic and Sutton rounded out the top five. Adams Central took eighth, and Cozad took eleventh.
In Class B, Kathryn Krueger from Hastings was the individual champion with a +10 finish (154) at Gering’s Monument Shadows Golf Course, and Omaha Duchesne Academy won the title for the fifth straight year. Class A also had a repeat team champion, as Omaha Marian won their third straight team title. Lauren Murnan was the Class A individual champion with a +5 finish (149) at Riverside Golf Club in Grand Island.
