Nebraska’s Britt Prince was one of 50 players named to the Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Women’s College Player of the Year Watch List announced on Thursday, Oct. 29.
Prince, a 5-11 junior from Omaha, Neb., claimed her first spot on a collegiate national player-of-the-year watch list just days after being included on the Nancy Lieberman Point Guard of the Year Award Preseason Top 20 on Monday. Fan voting for the Naismith Starting 5 Awards begins after the announcement of the Lisa Leslie Center of the Year Award Watch List on Friday, Oct. 30 (http://www.hoophallawards.com).
Prince returns for her third season at Nebraska after advancing to the 2026 Nancy Lieberman Award Midseason Top 10. She earned first-team All-Big Ten honors from the league media after leading the Huskers in scoring (17.9 ppg), assists (4.4 apg) and steals (1.5 spg) while adding 4.1 rebounds per game as a sophomore.
A two-time Gatorade and MaxPreps Nebraska High School Player of the Year at Elkhorn North, Prince was one of 10 players named to the Preseason All-Big Ten Team by both the conference coaches and media ahead of the 2026-27 season.
A 2025 Big Ten All-Freshman selection, Prince has guided Nebraska to back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances in 2025 and 2026.
In two games in the 2026 NCAA Tournament, Prince averaged 24.5 points, 3.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.0 blocks while hitting 18-of-33 shots (.545), 4-of-8 threes (.500) and all nine of her free throws (1.000). Her 27 points against No. 21 Baylor marked the second-highest scoring total by a Husker in NCAA Tournament history.
Prince, who hit 53.5 percent of her field goals, 45.7 percent of her threes and a Big Ten-best 91.2 percent of her free throws last season, opener her junior campaign with 27 points on 10-of-16 shooting to go with six rebounds, five assists and three steals in a closed scrimmage at Kansas State (Oct. 16).
Prince leads Nebraska on the court to open the season against San Jose State on Monday, Nov. 2 at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Tip-off between the Huskers and Lady Demons is set for noon (CT), following Nebraska’s annual Sizemore Sportsmanship Pep Rally. The rally, which is scheduled to include approximately 4,000 middle-grade students and accompanying adults from more than 70 schools across Nebraska will begin at 9:30 a.m.
